Fayetteville Cryptid Weekend (WV)

The Fayetteville Cryptid Weekend will be held in Fayetteville, West Virginia from March 7, 2026 thru March 8, 2026. Venture into downtown for all the fun as some of the most legendary cryptids emerge from the shadows. During the weekend these creatures will be roaming both downtown and local trails. Visitors may catch glimpses of Bigfoot, Mothman, and other mysterious beings as they explore town.

The weekend kicks off on Saturday, March 7, with the opening of a Cryptid Art Exhibition at the Love Hope Center for the Arts, featuring regional artists inspired by folklore, myth, and Appalachian legends. Other events on Saturday include a Cryptid Scavenger Hunt, various meet and greets, Cryptid Costume Contest, Mothman Felting Workshop, a ghost hunt, and a Bigfoot hunt. To be completely honest I had no idea what felting was before reading this. Now I want to quit my full time job to become a professional felter.

Sunday includes a Cryptid Scavenger Hunt, Cryptid Pet Costume Contest and Bigfoot hunts. This could be a potential girlfriend first date kind of day!

Throughout the weekend, enjoy a Cryptid-themed Art Walk through your favorite Fayetteville businesses, with special stops, themed displays, and surprises along the way. Shops, galleries, and community spaces will embrace the strange and unusual as downtown transforms into a playful celebration of West Virginia’s most mysterious creatures.
